Puppy is sitting on a bench, putting on his skis at the bottom of a mountain in Aspen. He giggles as he watches Teddy in the distance, trying to balance on his snowboard. After the fourth time Teddy falls on his tail, Puppy uses his poles to pull himself closer to him. “Teddy, do you need help?”
“Oh no, thank you, I’m just warming up. I’m going to do all sorts of tricks and jumps on black diamonds,” Teddy replies.
“Teddy, have you ever skied or snowboarded before? I heard that it is super hard and that we should probably take a lesson for beginners,” Puppy said as he checked his notebook for recommendations.
Oh boy, this is going to be an adventure, thought Puppy.
Teddy and Puppy are at the top of the mountain watching people whoosh by them, expertly skiing down the mountain. It’s the best time to go skiing in Colorado, with perfect weather and perfect snow, so the hill was packed with excited skiers and snowboarders.
“I’m pretty sure once I get going, I’ll be able to do the flips. The only problem is, how do I get going?” Teddy looks down at his snowboard.

Puppy stares down the mountain and gently asks, “Why does this mountain look like a cliff from here?”
Teddy pulls out the map, “According to this map, this is a blue, but it doesn’t look that steep on the map.”
Teddy has a solution, “Let’s just go really slow down the mountain and sit down when we are going too fast.” Puppy nods.
Both friends start skiing down the mountain slowly, “See, Puppy, it’s working. Now, we just need to go a little faster.”
Puppy is watching Teddy try to jump with his board when he starts sliding down the mountain. “Teddy, heeeeeelp, whooooah, noooo, stoooooop, Tedddddddddyyy!”
Teddy jumps again and suddenly his board takes off and he is flying down the Aspen mountain too! Teddy catches up with Puppy and is yelling over the noise of the wind and the skis, “We are going too fast, tooooo fast!”
Teddy hears Puppy chanting, “Pizza slice, pizza slice!”
Teddy shouts back, “Sure, once we stop.”
Puppy laughs, “No, that is how I read that I can stop!” Puppy starts putting the front of the skis together like a pizza slice.
Teddy yells, “I can’t make a pizza slice, I only have one of these boards.”
Suddenly, Teddy hits a bump, flies in the air, and falls on his tail, “Ouch!” Falling is NOT a good idea! He looks up and Puppy is flying towards him and they are both screaming “STOP!”
Magically, Puppy comes to a sharp stop and his skis cover Teddy with snow. “Whoops, well Teddy, I stopped!” shrugging he covers his mouth with his paw as he giggles.
Teddy lifts his snow-covered paw and wipes the snow off his face, pointing at the end of the hill says, ”Do you think they have hot cocoa?
Puppy smiles, “I think we deserve it! Let’s take a lesson next time.”
